Harvey Park (12-2) is now the LFA lightweight champion following an impressive first-round stoppage of Demarques Jackson (10-3).

The contest served as the main event of Friday’s LFA 64 event, which aired live on AXS TV from Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, S.D.

Jackson took the center of the cage to start, changing levels and looking to load up on a big right hand. The taller Park was patient from the outside, keeping his hands high and firing his own heavy punches when space allowed, as well as a few crushing low kicks. Jackson eventually pressed inside to the clinch, but neither man could take advantage of the position, and they reset in the center.

Park found his range on the feet late in the frame, tagging Jackson with a few well-timed punches that saw him stagger, and then dragging him to the floor. With time winding down, Park seized his opportunity, jumping on top of his foe and unleashing powerful strikes on the ground that saw the referee save a dazed Jackson with just two seconds left on the clock.

New champ Park has now won three consecutive fights and is 10-1 in his past 11 appearances, with the only loss in that span coming to Austin Hubbard, who makes his UFC debut next month.

Jackson runs through Futrell

In the night’s co-main event, Jason Jackson (9-3) dominated late replacement Scott Futrell (11-9) in a 180-pound catchweight contest, eventually scoring a second-round submission.

A massive favorite according to the oddsmakers, Jackson was relaxed on the feet to start the night, but eventually elected to wrap the body and slam Futrell to the floor in relatively simple fashion. As Futrell looked to scramble free, Jackson looked in a D’Arce choke that looked deep but couldn’t elicit a tap. Futrell patiently waited through the hold and escaped back to his feet, but Jackson tossed him immediately back to the canvas. Still, Futrell wouldn’t go away that easy, again working his way off the ground and looking to trade until the bell.

Jackson took the fight to the floor early in the second, and he again turned to the D’Arce choke when his opponent scrambled, though he again was unable to finish the hold. This time, though, he didn’t allow his foe back to the feet, instead keeping the pressure high on the floor and eventually switching to an arm-triangle choke and getting the squeeze in place, earning the tap at the 4:07 mark of the frame.

Jackson has now won back-to-back fights since a TKO loss at Dana White’s Contender Series 3.
